Legendary English songwriter Mark Fry is set to make a one off appearance in London this April.
Mark Fry is a true lost talent. The English songwriter released his best work – ‘Dreaming With Alice’ – in 1972, yet the album swiftly sank without a trace.
Finding its way into the hands of a select few, the mythology around the album increased year on year. Original editions now fetch several thousand pounds, with Mark Fry’s music seeming to contain an enduring, unsettling quality which touches on the supernatural.
Returning in 2008 with a new album, Mark Fry has now confirmed a rare London show. A one off date at the Village Underground, the songwriter will be joined by members of Mercury Rev, Tunng, The A. Lords and more.
Lemon Jelly’s Nick Franglen has been pivotal to the revival of interest in Mark Fry’s career. “This is one of a series of Sound And Music commissioned events I am working on, I’m thrilled that the first of them is this show with my good friend Mark Fry” he said. “His music has influenced so many people over the years; it’s a complete pleasure to be able to present it with this remarkable line-up of musicians.”
