A sensational new festival has been announced for Manchester with Elbow, Kraftwerk and more to appear.
Manchester has long been seen as one of Britain’s musical hotspots. Giving the world Factory Records, The Hacienda, Oasis and erm Simply Red the city has spawned more than its fair share of million selling acts.
New event the Manchester International Festival aims to celebrate this achievement as well as bring some world class talent to the city. A bi-annual event, this year’s instalment of the festival is set contain an awesome bill.
Bury boys Elbow waltzed away with the Mercury Music Prize for ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’ last year, and since then their lives have completely changed. Joining the group is Blur singer Damon Albarn, who previewed his opera ‘Monkey: A Journey To The West’ at the event two years ago.
In a massive coup for the event’s organisers German legends Kraftwerk have agreed to play Manchester International Festival. As innovators of electronic music, Manchester should surely act as a spiritual home for the band.
