Malcolm Middleton has announce details of a full British tour, with fans able to purchase two entirely new albums from the merch stall.
Reforming for a one off show this Autumn, Arab Strap left fans in raptures. However the show highlighted some contrasting schedules: while Aidan Moffat has received critical acclaim for his new solo album partner in grime Malcolm Middleton has been rather less ubiquitous.
Yet the songwriter is planning something. Forming new group Human Don’t Be Angry, Malcolm Middleton is set to turn his back on life as a solo artist with a number of nationwide shows. Confirming plans for the solo tour, the Glasgow based artist will support himself with Human Don’t Be Angry set to preview material from their yet-to-be-completed debut album.
“Two sets each night, one previewing the soon-to-be-released HDBA album, and the other singing old “classic” MM songs as well as some new ones” he said recently. “And maybe some shit b-sides too. Next year I’ll be concentrating on HDBA releases with a new band so this will be the last solo song-based tour for a while.”
Announcing a series of dates, Malcolm Middleton isn’t going to let fans go home empty handed. The singer has pressed up copies of new compilation ‘A Quarter Past Shite’ which features unreleased material recorded between 1994 and 2001. No word on a tracklisting as yet, although fans will also be able to purchase the first recorings from Human Don’t Be Angry.
The band recently performed in Leeds, and the entire concert was recorded for posterity. ‘Live At Leeds’ will be available from the merch stall, with Malcolm Middleton insisting that only two of the six songs on show will make it onto the final Human Don’t Be Angry album.
