London’s ambitious new event Hard Rock Calling has expanded its line up yet again with the likes of The Magic Numbers, Starsailor and all signing up for festival.
Now into its second year, Hard Rock Calling is rapidly growing into one of London’s premiere music events. Taking over the city’s historic Hyde Park area, the event can boast one of the summer’s best line ups.
Taking to the stage this year in a very rare British festival appearance is legendary American songwriter Bruce Springsteen. Set to play his first ever British festival at Glastonbury, the icon recently wowed the crowds at California’s Coachella event.
Recent album ‘Working On A Dream’ was a rejuvenated set from the legend. Having taken part in Barack Obama’s campaign trail, the album shouts of the promise for a new America. A global success, the record shot straight to number one on the British charts.
Hard Rock Calling can boast than just The Boss, however. Joining the New Jersey hero on the bill are The Killers, who recently joined the songwriter onstage at the PinkPop event in the Netherlands.
Neil Young is gearing up to release his mammoth box set ‘Archives’ later this year, which ClashMusic received an exclusive preview of. The singer is set to play a number of UK dates over the summer, which will also include a special performance in London courtesy of Hard Rock Calling.
New additions to the bill include harmonious brother-sister partnership The Magic Numbers, as well as returning Canadian synth stars Metric. The Pretty Things were famed in the 60s for being wilder than The Rolling Stones, but the band were creative enough to produce ‘SF Sorrow’ – arguably the peak of English psychedelia.
Still going strong, The Pretty Things show no signs of slowing down and are due to rock the Hyde Park crowd. Starsailor returned earlier this year with their new album, and the ever reliable indie fellows are set to showcase their new material at Hyde Park Calling.
Also due to play the event are the likes of Johnny Flynn, James Morrison, Silversun Pickups and Mumford and Sons.
Taking place over three days, Hard Rock Calling blends superb music with wonderful surroundings that will allow you to escape from the hustle of city life into something quite unique.
Hard Rock Calling is due to take place between June 26th – 28th.
