Madonna has confirmed two British shows as part of a much larger global tour.
There may be competitors to the throne, but in terms of ticket sales Madonna remains the Queen of Pop. The singer’s ‘Sticky And Sweet’ tour broke box office records, with the announcement of a new global jaunt bound to cause excitement amongst her fans.
Announcing 26 shows around the world, Madonna has confirmed the first leg of a no doubt vast tour. The shows include arenas, stadiums and special outdoor sites moving from Quebec to South America and Australia.
However the British dates have caused the most excitement around these parts. Madonna is set to play London’s Hyde Park on July 17th, with tickets priced at £125 and £70 (subject to booking fee).
Travelling North, Madonna has confirmed a one off Scottish date. Taking place on July 21st, the singer will perform at Murrayfield Stadium – tickets are priced at £125/£80/£75/£70/£60/£45 (subject to booking fee).
Of course, the announcement comes in the aftermath of Madonna’s controversial Superbowl performance. Opening with ‘Vogue’ Madonna was then joined by Nicky Minaj and MIA to run through her recent single ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’. Always one to cause mischief, MIA gave the crowd the middle finger and appeared to mouth “I don’t give a f*ck”.
Broadcaster NBC were quick to apologise: “We apologise for the inappropriate gesture that aired during half-time. It was a spontaneous gesture that our delay system caught late.”
The NFL, in turn, also blamed the NBC delay system. “There was a failure in NBC’s delay system,” the NFL said. “The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologise to our fans.”
The performance finished without a hitch, with Madonna ending on ‘Like A Prayer’ before disappearing in a puff of white smoke. When she had gone, letters on the field spelled out ‘World Peace’.
Expect something similarly spectacular on her world tour…
Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday February 10th.
