Love Music Hate Racism at Sziget

Launch of Hungarian campaign

Hungary’s Sziget festival is to give over a whole day, Day Zero, to Love Music Hate Racism affiliated bands and launch a Hungarian equivalent campaign.

Held on an island in the river Danube in the centre of capital city, Budapest, Sziget is Europe’s largest music festival seeing 350,000 punters attend over it’s five day run. This year sees appearances from Primal Scream, Lily Allen, The Ting Tings, The Prodigy, Snow Patrol, Bloc Party, Editors and many more.

Day Zero itself is usually given over to something a little different, this year the festival organisers have asked LMHR to curate the day and highlight the new initiative, Zene a Rasszizmus Ellen (Music Against Racism) or ZARE for short, a campaign created in association with the British Embassy in Hungary.

Sam Duckworth AKA Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly (who is curating the music for the event) has put together a special one-off supergroup featuring the full Get Cape band complemented by an eclectic group of cutting-edge artists including Drew McConnell from Babyshambles; members of The King Blues and Kid British; Mpho Skeef; Jimmy Pursey from Rock Against Racism heroes Sham 69; rappers Low Key and Eslam Jawaad; Britpop legend Lee Mavers from The La’s; and DJ The Last Skeptik.
