Lollapalooza 2012 Line Up

Featuring Black Sabbath, Jack White and more...

Lollapalooza have unveiled the line up for 2012’s instalment, including performances from Black Sabbath, Jack White and more.

Famously founded – at least in part – by Perry Farrell, Lollapalooza became an iconic live institution during the 90s. Travelling from city to city, it captured the mood of the alternative nation just as the mainstream woke up to the grunge phenomenon.

Losing it’s bite ever so slightly, Lollapalooza remains hugely popular. Returning to Chicago’s Grant Park this summer, organisers have now confirmed the event’s line up for this summer’s instalment. (via Chicago Sun Times)

Re-united metal icons Black Sabbath will perform, while other high profile names on the bill include Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Keys and reformed El Paso post-hardcore nutjobs At The Drive-In.

Scuzzy New York types The Walkmen will showcase their new album, while Santigold, Franz Ferdinand, SBTRKT, Washed Out and more have all confirmed performances.

Reflecting shifting patterns in American youth culture, Perry’s Stage is home to Lollapalooza’s rave element. Named in honour of its Jane’s Addiction founder, the arena will feature performances from the likes of Bass Nectar, Skream + Benga and more.

Early bird tickets sold out in March, with a second – slightly more expensive – batch due to go on sale shortly.
