After the resounding success of last weeks inaugural ‘Select’ Session, featuring Fatherson and Blaenavon, there was a genuine air of excited anticipation last night at Shoreditch’s Concrete. Clash DJs began spinning tunes early, setting the scene for another packed event, with the best dressed of London’s East End in attendance.
Nottingham based duo Shelter Point take the stage first and prove to be something of a revelation. Their intricate, intimate set of soulful electronica is emotional and uplifting. Creating a simultaneously dense yet light atmosphere with constantly changing textures is a hard thing to pull off, but they do it effortlessly, creating an appropriately relaxed mood for the remainder of the evening.
Headliner Jamie Isaac spellbinds the audience with his minimal, piano-driven soundscapes, showcasing tracks from EPs ‘I Will Be Cold Soon’ and the recently released ‘Blue Break’. The jazz-influenced, stripped-down 'Mother’s Love Don’t Stretch' is a highlight, and ‘She Dried’ is a swooning beauty. His ethereal sound transports and beguiles. A look around the room at the chilled-out faces confirms this ‘Select’ Session to be another huge success.
