An intimate preview of his new album...

Miles Kane understands how to connect with a live audience. Widely known for his ability to blend genre in distinct, stylish ways, the Birkenhead born artist is known as somebody, who has created a niche through his music, effectively becoming a specialist in his field.

The early, precise stage time of 8pm is an indication of this being a special, one off event, with little doubt about Miles Kane’s enthusiasm for the show, and the exact same counts for his crowd. In full anticipation of this live spectacle, the sweaty south-east London venue is as hot as his fans are excited for what they are about to witness.

An intimate gig setting this evening provides an ideal chance to re-connect with the London based frontman. Stage projection and sound seem as if designed for what is needed today, which is mirrored in the delivery. Snappy, timely and fulfilling, the hour-long set delivers what it says on the tin and more; timeless, uplifting indie pop presented with energy and warmth.

Starting with ‘Don’t Let It Get You Down’, ‘Rearrange’ and ‘Inhaler’ get the crowd buzzing, and it creates a thirst for more tunes to land. With moshing, jumping and singing along from the get-go, the intention here is all about motivating everyone to be present here and now, and all punters happily adhere. - Effective and finely tuned, the show moves on with the breezy ‘Blame It On The Summertime’ followed by the intensely atmospheric Last Shadow Puppets track ‘Aviation’, and ‘Quicksand’ comes after.

It is time for a new song, the songwriter tells the crowd. “We are going old-school tonight” he enthuses. With a light layer of glam rock vibes, the novel song comes with a catchy chorus, it is a delivery that is destined to work.

Further into the show, there are vibrant executions of ‘Coup De Grace’, ‘Come Closer’, ‘Nothing’s Ever Gonna Be Good Enough’, and the second TLSP track of the night, the mesmeric ‘Standing Next to Me’. And Warrington born singer RAHH - real name Holly Quin-Ankrah - fronts the stage with Kane. Enriching and supporting the vocal harmony, she balances the show with nuance and presence.

In the spirit of the show, there are no encores to be had, and there is actually no need for it. An engaging and entertaining performance, the show is a strong reminder of Miles Kane, when he is at his best. It is what the crowd wanted, and without a doubt, what they got.
