Live Preview: Blur Announce Wembley Stadium Show

It. Is. Happening.

Blur will play a headline show at London’s Wembley Stadium next summer, it has been announced.

The British legends re-united for 2015 album ‘The Magic Whip’, playing a string of international shows. A memorable evening in London’s Hyde Park saw the band return to their home city, before embarking on solo endeavours.

Now news has broken that Blur will play a headline show next summer. The band will play London’s Wembley Stadium on July 8th, their only UK appearance and their first headline show since that 2015 run. Support comes from slowthai, Mercury nominee and national treasure Self Esteem, and Jockstrap.

Speaking on the announcement Damon Albarn says: “We really love playing these songs and thought it’s about time we did it again.”

Guitarist Graham Coxon recently published his memoir, and he adds: “I’m really looking forward to playing with my blur brothers again and revisiting all those great songs… blur live shows are always amazing for me. A nice guitar and an amp turned right up and loads of smiling faces…”

Bass player and gentleman farmer Alex James comments: “There’s always something really special when the four of us get in a room. It’s nice to think that on 8th July that room will be Wembley Stadium.”

And genial drummer Dave Rowntree says: “After the chaos of the last few years, it’s great to get back out to play some songs together on a summer’s day in London. Hope to see you there.”
