On paper it shouldn’t have worked. A bunch of friends making music in lockdown, Yard Act found success – 6Music playlists, critical acclaim – without even playing a single live show. When the pandemic receded, their unlikely rollercoaster continued, with debut album ‘The Overload’ gaining a Mercury nomination.
Since then, the Yorkshire group have dug deeper, working harder than ever before. Second album ‘Where’s My Utopia?’ saw the band step up their game, analysing this broken country in the process.
Hitting the road for sell out UK tour, Yard Act hit Manchester’s O2 Apollo for a spectacular night – CLASH photographer Danny Payne was on the ground to capture it.
