Phoebe Bridgers is on something of a roll right now.
Almost two years on from its release, the acclaim surrounding her second album ‘Punisher’ still lingers loudly. Strolling onstage at Glastonbury, the American songwriter gave a bravura performance, one that received plaudits on-site and in the press.
Her current UK tour includes some golden highlights – meeting up with Maggie Rogers and Rina Sawayama backstage at Latitude, she was able to provide yet another viral moment.
A funny, engaging, and outspoken – watch out, the Supreme Court – presence onstage, it’s ultimately the songs that matter. And what songs they are: gripping, literate, open, and sarcastic, Phoebe Bridgers is able to touch parts of your soul there artists can’t even glimpse.
Hitting Manchester’s O2 Apollo over the weekend, she delivered a knockout set in one of the city’s most historic venues. Another sign of her rise, it proved to be an incredible evening in the presence of a truly special artist.
