Live Gallery: IDLES – Project House, Leeds

A sweaty, intimate album launch...

IDLES have always been a truly special live band. Even at those early shows – sweat pit venues whose stage could scarcely contain them – the Bristol outfit seemed to attack the performance as if they were festival headliners.

A righteous force in British music, the band’s new album ‘TANGK’ finds IDLES daring to be open, finding the courage to be personal. A song cycle about love, ageing, commitment, and fatherhood, it’s backed by some of their most disparate, wide-ranging sonics yet.

Lauded by critics and celebrated by fans, ‘TANGK’ is currently flying up the charts like Lewis Hamilton on a last minute supermarket dash. Heading around the country, IDLES are playing a flurry of tiny shows, reconnecting with their roots in the process.

Clash photographer Danny Payne caught IDLES at Project House in Leeds, a special ‘TANGK’ album launch organised by Crash Records.
