Live Gallery: Fletcher – Eventim Apollo, London

The first of two sold-out shows in the capital...

New Jersey-raised singer-songwriter Fletcher is coming into her own.

On her debut, ‘Girl Of My Dreams‘, Fletcher conveyed her queer-pop prowess on acoustic confessionals and indie-pop anthemics. In March, Fletcher released her sophomore album, ‘In Search Of The Antidote‘, an evolved, at times transcendent take on love in all its infinite guises, with the song cycle exploring Fletcher and her tangled, unembellished multitudes.

In her own words, Fletcher says this of her latest creative incarnation: “Over the years, I’ve looked for the antidote in so many things: women, the road, the stage, fans, spirituality and self-reflection. Making this album was an excavation, a deep dive where I asked myself what would truly heal me, and my ultimate realization was that love is the antidote. Before now, I don’t think I’d ever really looked at love through all the different lenses and angles and discovered all its infinite manifestations. That’s what this album is about for me.”

In support of the album, Fletcher touched down in the UK for a sold-out headline tour. Judging by the online testimonies, Fletcher’s symbiosis with her wide-eyed fans has only grown in fervour and intensity, with the star bringing her interior reckoning of love to a show that bridges early favourites with the thrill of the new.

On the first of two nights at the Eventim Apollo, Alessi Rose and ARXX warmed up the crowd, before primetime performer Fletcher brought the house down. In attendance for CLASH was photographer Connie Burke, who got up close and captured the singer in all her resplendent glory.
