From the second 6LACK takes to the stage in London, every single person in the venue is fixated on this incredible artist. One of the true leaders of R&B’s newgen, his catalogue is littered with gems, representing some true soulful highs.
Yet there’s something about being in his presence which brings an allure of magic. The self-explanatory Since I Have A Lover tour, his current dates follow hot on the heels of last year’s excellent studio album. In our review at the time, Clash wrote:
Lyrically, it’s one of his most daring thus far. ‘Since I Have A Lover’ feels with loss and identity, with love and faith, an hour-long treatise on his life to date. An artist who has known actual hardship – the couch-surfing and label travails of his SoundCloud era – and the pressures success can enact, both poles seem to haunt this record.
