Fast rising electro starlet Little Boots is due to appear onstage with Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard at a newly announced London show.
Little Boots seems to have big ambitions. The singer emerged at the tail end of last year, but has a lengthy musical career behind her. An audition on Pop Idol was followed by a tour with a jazz trio, as Little Boots attempted to find her own voice.
Crafting electro music from a variety of instruments, Little Boots caught the attention of Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard who worked with her on a number of songs destined for her debut album ‘Hands’.
Released last week, ‘Hands’ is a true all star affair. The Human League’s Phil Oakey appears on the track ‘Symmetry’ lending a sense of weight with his trembling vocals. Explicitly pop, the album nonetheless has its moments of shining intelligence – ‘Mathematics’ was inspired by a Sylvia Plath poem.

Now Little Boots is set to take her collaboration with Joe Goddard public, with the two set to play together at Smirnoff U.R The Night in London’s Matter nightclub.
Of the show, Little Boots said “I’m really excited that Smirnoff asked me to be part of this event. It’s great that everyone there on the night has been involved in what takes place, and I’m really pleased to be getting even more involved myself with this collaboration. After working on my album together, I can’t wait to perform live on stage with Joe.”
Also due to perform on the night are Pet Shop Boys. The legendary synth pop duo recently won an ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’ at the Brit Awards which was given to them by The Killers’ lead singer Brandon Flowers.
Neil Tennant said in a statement that “we’re looking forward to what should be a really great night with an amazing line-up of electronic music talent, including this exciting musical collaboration.”
Other talents announced for the night include Hot Chip, who will provide a DJ set. The electro geek chic wonders are fresh from released a ‘Bugged Out’ mix CD, and will be sure to rock the house alongside The Count And Sinden and House jedi Tom Middleton.
Tickets are free, but can only be obtained if fans get involved in the night. After registering, music lovers will be asked to submit suggestions for how they want the night to evolve.
Smirnoff U.R The Night takes place in London’s Matter nightclub on July 10th.
