Caribou has prepared a new mix ahead of his appearance at ATP’s Nightmare Before Christmas.
Caribou may not have released a new album in 2011, but that doesn’t mean that Dan Snaith has been twiddling his thumbs. Completing a number of remixes, Caribou also released a one off 12 inch with Four Tet.
Continuing pushing forwards, the Caribou live show is continuing to reach sublime heights. Invited to curate ATP’s Nightmare Before Christmas, the band are grappling with the line up for one night of the three day event.
To highlight their tastes, Dan Snaith has prepared a new mix for ATP. The mix opens with a flurry of free jazz cuts, including seminal material from Pharaoh Sanders and inter-planetary voyager Sun Ra.
A fairly intense hour long mix, the tracklisting features plenty of psych and electronica. Caribou is represented via a Junior Boys remix, adding some Impressionistic house tones to recent cut ‘Improve Me’.
Ending with Sun Ra’s ‘Space Is The Place’ the mix is introspective – at times quite challenging – but never loses focus. Stream it below…
