US rockers Linkin Park have performed outside Mann’s Village Theatre at the L.A. premiere of the film ‘Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen’.
The band composed the song, ‘New Divide’, for the film’s soundtrack, having also contributed a track to the first film. The film, starring Shia LeBouf and Megan Fox, sees the transforming robots again battle their Decepticon enemies aided by human accomplices, Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes.
Writing about the band’s involvement, Mike Shonoda wrote on Linkin Park‘s MySpace “The opportunity to be creatively involved with one of the most anticipated films of the summer is pretty exciting.” He elaborated more, “It’s one thing to shoot a video that matches sound and vision, but making music that’s built for the big screen is a completely different challenge and we ran with it.”
Director of both Transformers movies, Michael Bay, has gone on the record as saying, “I love Linkin Park. This is the second film we’ve worked on together and the fact that they’re huge ‘Transformers’ fans makes it all the better. They really delivered with ‘New Divide’ – it’s a great song that perfectly matches the film’s intensity.”
‘Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen’ is on general release today in the US, having opened in the UK on June 19th. The soundtrack album, featuring the Linkin Park track alongside contributions from Green Day, The Fray, Cheap Trick and more, is out now.
