Returning nu metal giants Limp Bizkit have confirmed details of a massive free entry comeback show in Las Vegas.
Limp Bizkit were arguably the definitive nu metal group to emerge at a time when down tuning your guitar and wearing your baseball cap backwards were the ‘in thing’ in rock circles. Long reviled, the genre could be about to make a comeback.
Formed by tattoo artist Fred Durst, Limp Bizkit began life living in the shadow of friends and fellow nu metal types Korn. However with Durst’s outspoken interviews and their ferocious live shows it wasn’t long until Limp Bizkit overtook their friends and rivals.
Breakthrough album ‘Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavoured Water’ transformed the band into one of the biggest acts on the planet, yet soon after personnel troubles set in. Guitarist Wes Borland left the group, and the band had a high profile audition process to replace him.
Eventually stuttering to a halt, Wes Borland returned for ‘The Unquestionable Truth (Part One)’ in 2005 before the band went onto hiatus. However hold onto those baseball caps, folks as Limp Bizkit are set for a comeback.
Recently playing their first show in some time in Latvia, the band seemed on rare form running through their seminal hits. ‘Break Stuff’ famously triggered a riot at Woodstock back in 1999, and the track can still get the blood pumping even though we’re all older and (supposedly) wiser.
After a headline slot at Download in the UK Limp Bizkit are due to return to the United States for a very special show.
Performing in Las Vegas the group will take to the stage at the Nevada city’s Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms Casino Resort. Due to take place on July 18th, in an unusual twist entry to the show is on a “first come first served basis”.
With a headline set at Sonisphere planned, British fans will soon get another glimpse of a band who, for good and bad reasons, defined their adolescence.
