Lightspeed Champion Covers Set

Singer to play at new film screening

Oddball genius Lightspeed Champion is set to play a set which will comprise only of material written by legendary songwriter Cat Stevens.

Real names Dev Hynes, Hynes began his musical career with the explosive synth rock of Test Icicles. That band only lasted for one album before imploding, with the musicians involved claiming that no one in Test Icicles actually enjoyed making the music.

Re-emerging as a country infused singer-songwriter, Hynes chose the name Lightspeed Champion and travelled to Omaha in the United States to work with the Saddle Creek collective.

Debut solo album ‘Falling Off The Lavender Bridge’ was a remarkable collection of songs, which details the frequently bizarre workings of Hynes’ mind.

The forthcoming show will take place in the BFI Southbank venue in London. Lightspeed Champion will perform after a showing of the 1971 film ‘Harold And Maude’ and will play the Cat Stevens composed soundtrack.

Following the performance, DJ sets will be provided by Roots And Shoots’ Emma Pettit and Nick Luscombe.

Lightspeed Champion will play the following shows:
