Leeds Festival 2024: Weather + Traffic

The mainstay festival opens its gates once more...

Over the last three decades, Reading & Leeds Festival has cemented itself as a key contender within the festival circuit. This year marks one of its most diverse editions, welcoming the likes of Blink-182, Liam Gallagher and Fred Again… to the main stage. Elsewhere, the festival extends its balance of classic and emerging talent, swinging between Lana Del Rey, 21 Savage, Barry Can’t Swim, Lambrini Girls and beyond.

Running between Wednesday 21st August to 25th, Leeds Festival will commence with gusty winds and light showers, brightening up across the weekend according to the MET Office.

August 22nd is set to keep bright until the early evening, with temperatures cooling down to 13 degrees Celsius. August 23rd will be met with consistent cloud and sunshine throughout, although a Yellow warning has been issued due to strong winds brought by Storm Lilian. Clearing up by the 24th (fingers crossed), the festival will be met with light showers across the morning and 18 degrees Celsius by the late afternoon. Drawing to a close with sunny intervals and clouds on the 25th, festival-goers are promised a clear forecast for their commute back.

For those travelling by train, your nearest destination is Leeds Station. At a 30-minute drive from the festival site, a shuttle bus will operate to and from Sovereign Square Park across Wednesday 21st – Monday 26th August. Alternatively, Big Green Coach are offering the most sustainable method of travel, priding a carbon-neutral service directly to the festival’s coach park from 42 UK pick-up locations.

Drivers are advised to carefully plan their journeys on the motorway, as the M1, A1(M) and A64 around Leeds will be particularly busy, with road closures at points on the A64 and A1M. For those planning an early departure, high levels of traffic are to be expected between 11PM to 2AM on the Sunday evening.
