LCD Soundsystem For Big Day Out

Iggy & The Stooges, Primal Scream confirmed

LCD Soundsystem have been named as one of the headliners for Big Day Out 2011.

The festival season has gone global. Sure, winter may be fast approaching but somewhere on this planet music fans are preparing to kickstart a brand new event. The festival calendar Down Under is opening up, with Big Day Out confirming a host of performers.

A travelling festival, Big Day Out moves from Auckland, New Zealand to Perth, Australia over a four week period. Coming with a vital reputation, the event is one of the most anticipated events on the festival calendar in the South Pacific.

LCD Soundsystem are set to continue their farewell tour with a number of appearances. Set to headline the Big Day Out festival, the band have spent the best part of 2010 playing some emotional tour dates.

Planning to tour with Hot Chip later this year, LCD Soundsystem will leave their final farewell to 2011. Bidding goodbye to their fans in Australia and New Zealand, the New Yorkers join a packed bill.

Iggy Pop & The Stooges are also due to perform, drawing on their primal ‘Raw Power’ period. Elsewhere, Primal Scream have been confirmed alongside a bill which includes Crystal Castles and Plan B.

Blues duo Black Keys have been confirmed, with Andrew WK, Grinderman, Wolfmother and more due to perform.

A typically varied bill, Big Day Out is due to host performances from metal giants Deftones, Tool as well as dance groups such as Booka Shade, disco producer Vitalic and Brazilian party goers CSS.
