London is enormous.
Clash of course started in Dundee, a fair sized Scottish city. Yet you could fit Dundee into London ten times over and still have room for a couple of large commuter towns.
In a city of that scale, community becomes very important with each area champing at the bit to prove their worth. Sure, Camden Crawl celebrates a lively part of the London live scene but how many of those acts actually hail from those cobbled streets?
Dalston might not be the most glamorous part of London, but in recent times the area has thrown up a variety of top acts. New festival Land Of Kings aims to celebrate their achievements, as well as promoting up and coming talent.
Taking place in venues across the borough, Land Of Kings will occupy anything from warehouses to forgotten clubs to bring you some memorable gigs featuring everything from afro-funk to gyspy-punk, electro, jazz and techno.
Club heavyweights Greco Roman and Todd Hart will appear, alongside disco stalwarts Idjut Boys and Ben Westbeech.
The event also showcases live music and will features acclaimed newcomer Sportsday Megaphone, as well as rising grime star Iain Woods and The Psychologist.
With an extensive cast including guest appearances from Chrome Hoof DJs and New Young Pony Club’s Tahita and Andy, Land Of Kings contains plenty of surprises.
Land Of Kings takes place in venues across Dalston between April 16th – 17th.
