Lake Of Stars Returns

African event confirms line up

African festival Lake Of Stars has confirmed the first names on its bill with The Noisettes and more due to perform.

The festival season is often seen as a Western affair, with few countries outside of Europe and North America hosting events. Yet in one of Africa’s most impoverished countries an acclaimed new festival is spreading its wings.

Starting last summer, Malawi’s Lake Of Stars event aims to bring the best in dance and indie to the tiny African nation. One of the poorest countries on the planet, the event raises awareness of the nation’s plight.

However Lake Of Stars never loses its sense of fun. The African event returns this summer with appearances from The Noisettes and more.

The Noisettes began life as a noisy garage punk trio, before swapping their fuzz pedals for synths. Returning as an electro pop sensation, the band’s second album swept into the charts last summer.

Set to perform at Lake Of Stars, the band will be joined by a varied cast. Tinashe is due to appear at the African event, with Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly also planning to appear at the Malawi festival.

A prominent campaign for Love Music Hate Racism, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly recently confirmed details of a new album. With plenty of new material to perform, the singer’s set will no doubt mix music and politics.

Elsewhere, Jon McClure is set to appear, with Afrikan and more confirmed for Lake Of Stars. More acts are set to be announced later this summer – to watch a BBC clip about the festival click HERE.

Lake Of Stars is due to run between October 15th – 17th.
