Ladyhawke For V Festival

Lightning Seeds, Alphabeat also added

This summer’s spectacular V Festival just got a little tastier with the addition of New Zealand electro singer Ladyhawke and many more.

Spread across two sites, V Festival has earned a reputation as being one of the more commercial events of the summer. However if that means missing out on groups practising a folk-metal crossover then so be it.

Well organised, efficient and a great way to spend a weekend, V admittedly lacked the cultural gravitas of Glastonbury & Co. but consistently gathers one of the summer’s finest line ups. This year is no exception, with headline performances from Oasis, The Killers and many more.

Organisers are still working hard to make this year’s event the best ever. New additions to the bill are being announcing regularly, with New Zealand singer Ladyhawke amongst the new crop of talent heading to V.

Last year’s debut album ‘My Delirium’ was a critical success, spawning the dancefloor-humping title track. Real name Pip Brown, the singer’s battle with Asperger’s has seen her adapt to playing live, overcoming her nerves to become a capable live performer.

Joining the Antipodean pop pixie on the line up this year are reformed Britpop wonders The Lightning Seeds. A classic singles group, the band are still lead by Scouse super producer Ian Broudie.

Expect shimmering guitar pop from the band, who came to rule the charts in the heady days of the mid 90s. Also due to get the party started are Alphabeat, the Danish pop stars who scored a massive hit with ‘Fascination’ last year.

Their reward for this? The drop from their major label home. The band’s debut album enjoyed sluggish sales, leaving them without a record company. However Alphabeat have vowed to continue, and have retreated back to their native Denmark to work on new material.

V Festival takes place in Stafford and Chelmsford between August 22nd – 23rd.
