Kyuss To Reform?

But without Josh Homme

Legendary stoner rock crew Kyuss could be set to reform for an upcoming European tour.

Kyuss were born in the deserts of California, a place where the sun makes people go a little crazy. Taking their cue from ‘My War’ era Black Flag, the band began mixing sludge rock into the punk template.

Led by Josh Homme, the group’s slowed down, bummed out rock gained a cult following. Remaining deeply underground, Kyuss enjoyed a retrospective leap to fame when Josh Homme led Queens Of The Stone Age to widespread success.

Kyuss split over a decade ago, but it seems that the Californian group could be resurrected. The band are the subject of rumours online, after reports began to emerge that a European tour was in the offing.

The catch? Josh Homme isn’t involved. No clue yet as to why the frontman has ruled himself out, but the continuing success of Queens Of The Stone and commitments with Them Crooked Vultures could have something to do with it.

American magazine The Silver Tongue reports that Kyuss will reform for upcoming tour dates. The line up will apparently feature singer John Garcia, bassist Nick Oliveri and drummer Brant Bjork with someone presumably standing in for Josh Homme.

Using the name ‘Kyuss Lives’ the band are reportedly set to complete a lengthy UK tour. The group will stop by the UK, with three potential dates being mooted. Beginning on March 31st, the short tour will end in London’s HMV Forum venue.

No word from official sources as yet, but hopefully a potential tour would lead to a full re-issue of the Kyuss catalogue.

The proposed ‘Kyuss Lives’ tour dates are:

March
31 Nottingham Rock City

April
1 Wolverhampton Wulfrun Hall
2 London HMV Forum
