British indie stars The Kooks are preparing for a massive show in the Eden Project, and have confirmed newcomers The Quails as their support.
The Kooks were formed in Brighton after singer Luke Pritchard tired of the London indie scene. Being by the seaside must have inspired the songwriter, with the band’s debut album ‘Inside In / Inside Out’ going on to become an enormous success.
The band achieved everything they could have hoped for with their debut album, so for their follow up they decided to use London’s Konk Studios – owned by their hero former Kinks singer Ray Davies.
Locked away from the outside world the group hit a creative streak. Subsequent album ‘Konk’ may not have matched the commercial success of their debut but it seems to be an able The Kooks needed to make.
Risking their reputation to expand their songwriting, the sessions in Konk studios were so productive that the band were able to release a follow up mini album ‘Rak’ which was recorded at the same time.
The band toured heavily, taking time off earlier this year. Festival appearances this summer have been kept strictly limited, with the band due to headline the annual Eden Sessions events in Cornwall.
Held in the innovative Eden Project biosphere, the Eden Sessions match a stunning location with some stellar performers. Amongst the line up for this year’s event are Oasis, Kasabian and of course The Kooks.
The Kooks are due to play the Eden Sessions this Saturday (July 18th). The band have offered a support slot to Devon based newcomers The Quails after the indie rockers impressed the promoters with a series of shows.
Fast rising, The Quails recently returned from a tour in Southern Turkey – just 50 miles from the border of Iran. A documentary on the tour is set to air in the Autumn, with The Quails getting much more than they bargained for.
In addition to this, the band have been confirmed as playing Somerrock festival as well as Teignmouth Carnival alongside none other than hard rockin’ legends Motorhead.
The Kooks are due to play the Eden Project on July 18th. Tickets are long since sold out.
