Mental, deranged and coming to a town near you – London shriekbeat merchants KASMs have been added to The Gossip’s massive new tour.
Vicious post-hardcore group KASMs don’t quite know how to define their sound. Melodic, yet with clear traces of screamo, the band have simply chosen the rather appropriate term of shriekbeat.
Live, the group are like nothing else around. Sure, all you jaded gig goers might thing you’ve seen it all but believe us – you ain’t. KASMs ricochet around the venue like a squash ball, with their shy and unassuming girl singer transforming herself into a punk icon.
Throwing herself into the moshpit Rachel Mary Callaghan often continues the show at the feet of her fans, smashing her body into anyone and anything that gets into her way. Obviously, such a visceral live show is difficult to transfer onto record, but recent album ‘Spayed’ gave it pretty good shot.
KASMs recorded the album live on a reel-to-reel tape machine and then mixed the material at their studio space with band member Rory Brattwell at the controls.

The Portland dance-punks are set to return with their latest album ‘Music For Men’ soon. A diverse collection it features some of their most outspoken songwriting to date. The band recently unveiled new tracks at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, with singer Beth Ditto embracing the crowd.
