Leeds indie champions Kaiser Chiefs engaged in an unlikely crowd battle with rap-metal legends Rage Against The Machine at T In The Park on Saturday (July 12th).
The band’s were headlining on the two main stages, and Kaiser Chiefs exhorted the crowd to drown out their American rivals. Playing a set laden with hits, the group were taken to heart by a wild Scottish crowd who responded enthusiastically to a slew of new material.
The band were explosive from the start, with frontman Ricky Wilson leaping into the front row of the crowd only seconds in to the set. Repeatedly urging the crowd to enjoy themselves, Wilson then asked them to sing as loud as they can during “Na Na Na Na Na” so the crowd at Rage Against The Machine could here them at the other end of the site. A noble gesture, but alas the Rage crowd remained oblivious to their efforts.
