Jay-Z Living Room Show

Radio 1 announce new shows

Returning rap megastar Jay-Z is set to play a very special show – in one lucky person’s living room.

Sadly, chances are it’s not your living room. It’s going to be radio DJ Jo Whiley’s. BBC Radio 1 announced details of the successful Live Lounge Tour for 2009 in which some of the biggest names in music perform stripped down versions of their own songs, along with unique cover versions right from the comfort of their living rooms.

Jo Whiley will host the week long tour. Throughout the week she will broadcast live from the homes and studios of the artists and this year she’s even invited hip-hop mogul Jay-Z round to her house.

Whiley says: “We hit the road again for another week of rock ‘n roll through the key hole taking the live lounge on tour.”

“This year will be tremendous – a whole lot of fun with a bunch of our favourite musicians letting us into their homes and private lives – culminating in Jay Z coming round to mine. Wonder how he takes his tea?! One lump or two?..”

The tour kicks off on Monday 14th September 2009. The Line up is:

Monday 14th – Kasabian, will be playing live from guitarist Serge Pizzorno’s house in Leicester. The group recently released their new album ‘West Rider Pauper Asylum’ and have been storming festivals across Britain.

Tuesday 15th – Boyband JLS will be singing live from band mates Aston & Marvin’s house in London.

Wednesday 16th – Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro will be live in Ayrshire. The band hail from Ayr and formed via the famous Stow College in Glasgow – also the birthplace of Belle & Sebastian.

Thursday 17th – Fresh from the summer festivals Dizzee Rascal will be inviting Jo Whiley into his studio in London. Watch out Jo, he’s Bonkers!

Friday 18th – Jay Z will be at Jo Whiley’s crib. Also included in this show will be an hour of highlights from Coldplay’s Hampden Park show – Jay Z is set to support Chris Martin & Co. on their upcoming British tour.
