Jay-Z In 9/11 Tribute Concert

Huge event remembers victims

A massive event in New York’s Madison Square Gardens has paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The events of September 11th need no introduction. Shocking the world, the terrorist atrocities left thousands dead in the largest single attack on the United States soil.

This year the United States paused to remember the tragic event in a series of memorial services. Taking over the historic Madison Square Gardens in New York a number of star names lined up to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the attacks.

Rap star Jay-Z played a two hour set, with the hip hop icon playing tracks from throughout his career. At various stages the rapper was joined by Pharell Williams, P. Diddy, Blige, Kid Cudi and Santigold for a stunning set.

Fellow hip hop icon Kanye West arrived onstage to join in on Jay-Z’s recent number one hit ‘Run This Town’. Taken from his new album ‘Blueprint 3’ the single has become a global success.

During the show Jay-Z paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the attacks, saying “make some noise for everybody that lost their lives so we can live ours.”

“We stand here tonight eight years later even stronger, even stronger.”

Half-way during the show Jay-Z also held a moment of silence in respect for those who lost their life in the September 11th attack.

The concert was named Answer The Call, with artists wearing black and grey throughout the show. All proceeds made from the Answer The Call gig is being donated to funds that help families affected by the attack.

The New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund will benefit from the concert.
