Returning indie icon Jarvis Cocker is set to star at the launch of new London night spot Cable.
London has possibly the most varied nightlife of any city on the planet. From swing to dubstep, punk to twee, virtually every taste, quirk and fancy is catered for. Yet new club Cable seems as if it will add its own unique taste to this special blend.
Purpose built, Cable spans three railway arches right next to London Bridge. Seeped in the dingy basement culture that spawned Acid House, the new club has a 1200 capacity and seems set to be one of the finest new clubs in the UK.
Comprising of 3 rooms, including a parlour room connecting the 2 dance floors, both even boast their own bars. Cable’s soundsystem, meanwhile, has been specially created by European sound specialists Nova for added bass action, meaning it can cope with the most adventurous of dancefloor mash ups.
Launching this weekend, Cable has promised three nights of spectacular entertainment. Tonight (May 22nd) the club hosts Magik Bus, a brand new bi-monthly night that will be hosted by Richard Norris.
Joining the DJ icon will be a rare UK show from Norwegian electro don Prins Thomas, while acclaimed producer Riton is also set to drop by. In addition to this Jarvis Cocker is set to drop by, fresh from putting the finishing touches to his new album ‘Further Complications’ the former Pulp man is set to make a very special appearance.
On Saturday (May 23rd) new club night Future Flash launches. Helmed by Rolando, this eclectic new venture promises a number of guest stars.
As its a Bank Holiday weekend clubbing can continue until Monday without any need for the office water cooler to be replaced with an enormous tin of Red Bull. The Platonic will bang some skulls together with blinding sets promised from the likes of Digital Mystikz and aquacrunk genius Rustie.
Part of the LuckyMe collective, you may already be familiar with Glaswegian cohort Hudson Mohawke. With his own unique identity and a fierce hunger for success, Rustie’s sets are sure to keep the dancefloor rammed.
With a host of new events planned for throughout the summer, Cable looks as though it will be a sizzling addition to London nightlife just in time for the summer. Upcoming nights include Forever Heavenly (on the 1st Friday of every month), while Can Can will boast takeovers from the iconic likes of Nag Nag Nag and Kash Point).
Elsewhere Andy Blake’s Dissident Records will host the Sunday morning club, while Dark Star’s bi-monthly events will be hosted by The Freaks, the legendary Ashley Beedle and Cosmo.
Cable opens tonight (May 22nd) with Magik Bus featuring Jarvis Cocker, Prins Thomas and many more.
