Jack White is set to unveil his new group The Dead Weather before a public audience for the first time in New York next week.
Jack White is a workaholic. Even in his early Detroit days, the musician lent his searing guitar skills to a number of records and famously produced the ‘Sympathetic Sounds Of Detroit’ compilation which brought the city’s music scene to higher prominence.
Touring the world with The White Stripes largely put a block on these activities, but the guitarist seems to have regained his wanderlust. The Raconteurs, of course, have already produced two albums helmed by White and close friend Brendan Benson.
But in addition to this Jack White is now set to star in The Dead Weather. The new group features White The Kills’ Alison Mosshart, along with Jack Lawrence of The Raconteurs and Dean Fertita of Queens Of The Stone Age.
The Dead Weather performed their first show together to an audience of just 150 in the offices of White’s label Third Man Records. The Nashville show was attended by a host of celebrities and music industry figures including Meg White.
The band have apparently already recorded their debut album which will be titled ‘Horehound’. Recorded at Third Man Studios, the album is set to be released in June.
The album was produced by White, with lead single ‘Hang You From The Heavens’ due to be released soon. The single will be backed up by a cover of Gary Numan’s ‘Are Friends Electric?’ and is available on iTunes now.
