Scotland’s biggest music festival T In The Park has expanded its line up again with London songsmith Jack Penate joining the event.
Jack Penate arrived with a barrel-load of hype surrounding his debut album ‘Matinee’. Early singles such as ‘Spit At Stars’ hinted at a feverish pop imagination, overspilling with quirky lyrics and offbeat melodic ideas.
Lead single ‘Torn On The Platform’ was a massive hit, waltzing into the Top Ten and raising hopes for the debut album. However critics panned ‘Matinee’ finding its blend of indie pop fairly lightweight.
Stung by criticism Jack Penate returned to the rehearsal room to work on new material. Returning to his roots the songwriter is now ready to return with his second album, due to be titled ‘Everything Is New’.
Fans have already heard one track from the album, with ‘Tonight’s Today’ being leaked to radio stations ahead of the album’s release. Jack Penate is due to release his new album ‘Everything Is New’ on June 22nd.
Jack Penate will preview his new album with a special performance at Balado, joining a line up that combines legendary names with up and coming talent.
Headliners this year include reformed Britpop giants Blur, Southern indie overlords Kings Of Leon and much, much more. Iconic 2 Tone giants The Specials put aside their differences recently for an extensive UK tour, and the Coventry band will bring their ska-punk set to T In The Park.
Amongst the latest additions to the festival line up are Northern Irish rockers In Case Of Fire and rejuvenated 80s band That Petrol Emotion.
Following the split of The Undertones, singer Feargal Sharkey took the hits while That Petrol Emotion took the critical acclaim. Heading in a far greater art rock direction that The Undertones, That Petrol Emotion remain highly regarded by their fans.
Of course, it’s not just rock acts that T In The Park cater for. The legendary Slam tent boasts an all star line up including techno maestro Jeff Mills, Felix Da Housecat and many more.
T In The Park is due to take place between July 10th – 12th.
