Jack Daniel’s / Hipstamatic Exhibition

London show opens

Jack Daniel’s and Hipstamatic have opened a new exhibition at London’s Orange Dot Gallery.

Earlier this year Clash Magazine teamed up with Jack Daniel’s and Hipstamatic for an exciting new competition. A flexible, functional iPhone only photo application, Hipstamatic invited users to upload their images to a new community.

Using the theme of ‘Found Art’ – essentially the beauty of the outside world – the results have been impressive to say the least. More than 3000 users got involved, with entries coming in from around the world.

Whittled down to a shortlist, a crack team of judges recently decided on an outright winner. Hosted by the Orange Dot Gallery in London, a new exhibition displays some of the verve, wit and imagination supplied by the entrants.

The exhibition opened with a private view on Wednesday (September 22nd) while the Hipstamatic display is now open to the public.

Printed off and hosted on the walls of the Orange Dot Gallery, the exhibition crosses between the real world and a digital environment, mixing a community aspect with a very individual sense of what constitutes ‘Found Art’.

Hosted with co-operation from Jack Daniel’s, the winners are now heading out to Lynchburg, Tennessee for a very special concert.

To celebrate the birthday of their founder, the people at Jack Daniel’s have decided to host a one off show in their hometown. A host of soul greats will form the New Silver Cornet Band, while guest artists include Plan B, underground rapper K Flay and Warpaint duo Emily Kokal and Theresa Wayman.

The Orange Dot Gallery Exhibition is open now and runs to September 30th.
