The first weather reports for the Isle Of Wight Festival are in – and it looks like rain.
One of the first big outdoor music events of the summer season, the Isle Of Wight festival mixes big name acts with fast rising newcomers. This year is no exception, with the likes of Kings Of Leon and Foo Fighters set to descend on the event.
The 10th anniversary of the rejuvenated festival, other performances include reformers Britpop veterans Pulp who recently stunned the crowd at Primavera with a passionate, soaring set drawing on their influential back catalogue.
The full line up is deeply diverse, mixing We Are Scientists with Band Of Horses, Iggy & The Stooges with erm… Pixie Lott.
As ever, much depends on the weather. The current reports from the BBC Weather service are a good guide to prevailing patterns, and it seems that the Isle of Wight festival will not escape rain this year.
The current reports indicate that the site will bask in sunshine when campers arrive on Thursday (June 9th). Temperatures will reach 15 degrees Celsius, with the site due to dip down to 9 degrees Celsius overnight.
However the weekend itself could be dogged by rain. Friday (June 10th) will see temperatures sit at a relatively mild 14 degrees Celsius, with a light breeze running across the site.
The big story is the threat of rain, with light showers predicted throughout the day. Dipping down to eleven degrees Celsius at night, it could be wet and chilly for campers at the Isle of Wight.
Saturday (June 11th) is one of the festival’s main days, with temperatures due to rise to 15 degrees Celsius. However the light rain is due to continue, with winds picking up across the site.
Best pack the wellies and umbrella…
