Morrissey is having a curiously contradictory time of late.
The singer's debut novel is about to be published, while live shows demonstrate that the wit and fervour still remain.
But, it seems that there is little appetite within the label structure to support a new Morrissey release. So the singer has warned that his forthcoming dates at London's Eventim Apollo could be his last in the UK for some considerable time.
In a missive on True To You the singer wrote:
There is absolutely no way that we can generate any interest from record labels in the United Kingdom, therefore the imminent two nights at Hammersmith are likely to be our final ever UK shows. We are obsessively grateful for all interest and loyalty from our audience … throughout 28 years … but without new releases, there is no point in any additional touring. Thank you for so many absolutely incredible times. The pleasure and privilege is mine …
Morrissey is set to play the following shows:
September
20 London Eventim Apollo
21 London Eventim Apollo
