Has it really been so long? Speedy Wunderground turns 10 this year, a significant milestone for the ever-vital London label. A combination of the talents of Dan Carey, Alexis Smith and Pierre Hall, the imprint has grown from DIY origins to become a key player in British music, working with everyone from Squid to Loyle Carner, Kae Tempest to Black Country, New Road.
Toasting their 10th birthday with a special box set, the label took control of London’s Village Underground for a packed out party. Virtually the entire crew turned out for Speedy’s big day, giving it the feel of a family re-union.
Viji is tight with Speedy Wunderground, and helpfully remembered to bring her camera to the party. Roaming around the venue, she’s pieced together this behind-the-scenes guide to Speedy Wunderground’s milestone bash.
Viji will release her debut album ‘So Vanilla’ on October 27th through Speedy Wunderground.
