I’ll Be Your Mirror is set to return next year after confirming appearances from Slayer, Mogwai and Guided By Voices.
Deciding to switch around it’s well established calendar of events, All Tomorrow’s Parties set tongues wagging. Before organisers knew where they were, fans had written off the future of the festival.
Thankfully, the ATP team have punched back in the best way possible. Given its debut earlier this year, I’ll Be Your Mirror will return in 2012 with three very special headline acts.
Set in Alexandra Palace, I’ll Be Your Mirror will utilise the historic surroundings in a new way. Metal giants Slayer are set to perform their 1986 album ‘Reign In Blood’ in its entirety as part of a special ATP performance.
Released 25 years ago, ‘Reign In Blood’ remains one of the defining moments of thrash and a truly seminal moment in metal history. Set to be re-created at Alexandra Palace, Slayer will be joined by doom metal trailblazers Sleep, grunge outcasts Melvins and more.
The second day will be headlined by Mogwai, who have agreed to play their sole English show of 2012 at Alexandra Palace. Joining the post rock legends will be a handpicked cast, with Mudhoney and Codeine amongst the first to be named on the bill.
The final day will see Guided By Voices return to the UK. With the band’s mid 90s line up reforming to make new material, the legendary American group will touch down on British shores for an emotional visit.
Helping to polish off another instalment of I’ll Be Your Mirror, Guided By Voices will be joined by grunge inspired pups Yuck and plenty more.
