Time to dig out the red pen and mark it down in your diary – the details for Iceland’s superb Airwaves festival have been announced.
Although the bill is a long way from being finalised the organisers have set the dates to be October 15th – October 19th. This year’s event will be extra special since it marks the tenth anniversary of the first ever Airwaves festival.
The festival has grown from humble beginnings to become one of Europe’s premiere musical events, acting as a breeding ground for new ideas and a showcase for emerging talent. Each year Airwaves aims to mix the best of established and new talent, with 2007’s event featuring a headline set from Bloc Party but also a huge variety of smaller events.
Based in and around Reykjavik, Iceland’s Airwaves event boasts spectacular scenery and a host of unusual features – gig goers can make use of a swimming pool heated by a volcano for example.
Airwaves will take place between October 15th – 19th.
