Glasgow beatsmith Hudson Mohawke has confirmed a new video ahead of his new British tour.
Inspired by wonky hip hop producers such as J Dilla, a new generation of Glasgow producers are fusing the sound of Stones Throw with dubstep and electronica.
The first producer to break out of this cellar scene is Hudson Mohawke, whose debut album ‘Butter’ dropped last year. With hype weighing down on him the Glasgow producer was never going to please everyone, but his eclectic debut album demonstrated the astonishing range of his talent.
Since then, Hudson Mohawke has been cresting a wave of adulation. Set to work with Rihanna shortly, the producer is preparing to unleash a new video ahead of his first ever British headline tour.
Taken from his debut album, ‘Joy Fantastic’ features the silky smooth vocals of Olivier Daysoul. Closely linked with Glasgow’s LuckyMe Collective, the singer makes a number of appearances on Hudson Mohawke’s debut album.
Directed by Konx-Om-Pax the new video is a startling take on the producer’s music. Part animation, part- performance the video continues the distinctive style of Hudson Mohawke’s debut album – after all, Konk-Om-Pax designed the artwork.
Currently performing a series of shows in SXSW, Hudson Mohawke is set to join his LuckyMe cohorts to storm the stage at Sonar.
