Ex-pat Australians residing in London, Howling Bells are perennial outsiders.
But then, that's part of their charm. The band have been forced to build up their own world, working from the bottom to the top with unbelievably energy.
New album 'Heartstrings' is incoming, with frontwoman Juanita Stein commenting: "Having a deadline means you're forced to make crucial artistic decisions in a very short time. You don't have the luxury of overthinking. I feel this process shaped the album. As a result, you become incredibly connected to the musical spirit of the band. We loved every second of it."
Out on June 2nd, the album will be accompanied by a lengthy UK tour. Opening in Guildford on May 29th, the shows take in Sheffield, Liverpool, Birmingham and more.
Hitting Manchester's Deaf Institute on June 4th, the tour ends in Portsmouth on June 9th.
