Howard Marks Brings Own Boozer To Rockness

'Howard's End' pub for Highland shindig

There’s nothing like a great local pub. And with this in mind one of Britain’s best loved characters is bringing his unique sense of hospitality to the banks of Loch Ness.

The Howard’s End Pub will be debuting at Rockness festival, and the Welsh orator and former legendary dope smuggler reveals his recipe for success: “The clientele are very important, also the music and the level of the music plays a huge part in having a truly great pub. It’s really important that people enjoy each other as well. There’ll definitely be good tunes, I like a bit of DJing, I can’t mix for toffee but I know good tunes when I hear them.”

Rockness is now in its fourth year and looks set to thrive with headliners The Strokes and Leftfield – meaning it’s looking likely to surpass many of its more established peers. Howard can’t wait to throw his weight behind the party: “I do own a bar in Leeds, and although I don’t pull the pints I am in there quite a bit. Its called Azucar, its Spanish for sugar. If Howard’s End is in any way successful then I’m sure it will go to other events. I’m not sure though what the criteria are though for a ‘successful pub’ – I just can’t wait to get drunk in my own boozer!”
