Hot Chip are set to launch the enormous digital arts festival Yota Space in Saint Petersburg.
The connection between music and art seems to be growing stronger. No sooner than Thom Yorke announces plans for a huge installation than Hot Chip are confirmed to play the opening of an enormous arts space.
Set to kickstart the Russian digital arts movement, Yota Space in Saint Petersburg is an enormous project. An enormous arts event, Yota Space is housed in a 15,000 sqm building over five floors.
Due to open on December 5th, Hot Chip are set to play the first night of the festival. The London group have been chosen to accompany some of the world’s leading digital artists, including Brian Eno.
The renowned English producer has crafted his own installation, uniting music and digital art using HD LED light. Brian Eno comments, “As an art student my favorite period was Russian art of the early 20th Century, I lived in Russia in 1997 in St Petersburg and I’ve always felt a very strong connection with Russian Culture. I’m thrilled to be coming back to exhibit my 77 Million Paintings instillation at Yota Space in December.”
Installations will range from holographic 3D paintings to illuminated objects, laser sculptures and interactive light spaces.
Lasting for two weeks, Hot Chip are set to lead the launch party on December 5th. Joining the line up are Masters of Skweee and SCSI-9. “Yota Space has been created as part of our mission to transform people’s lives by giving them access to new ideas from across the globe.”

A Russian mobile broadband company, YOTA are working closely with the arts community in Saint Petersburg to make the event a success.
