Hot Chip are amongst the latest additions to the line up of this summer’s Bestival.
With Glastonbury taking a year off, the British festival season is left without its usual pivot point. The biggest event on the calendar, the absence of live music at Worthy farm this summer has opened up room for expansion elsewhere.
With a similar idiosyncratic streak, many are tipping Bestival to occupy that position this summer. The Isle of Wight event is continuing to expand, with Hot Chip heading the latest list of additions from Rob da Bank & Co.
The electro-pop outfit recently outlined plans for their new album ‘In Our Heads’ which will be accompanied by a smattering of live shows. Due to play Camp Bestival, Hot Chip have now also confirmed a set at the Isle of Wight sister event.
Hot Chip will journey to Bestival this summer, part of a wave of new additions which also includes Willis Earl Beal. The American maverick recently made a show-stopping performance on ‘Later… With Jools Holland’ with his live shows already gaining massive exposure.
Signed to XL offshoot Hot Charity, Willis Earl Beal recorded his debut album on a boombox whilst living from hand to mouth. A unique performance, the American artist will bring his music to Bestival for a rare festival show.
Elsewhere, Bestival has confirmed performances from Jessie Ware, Alabama Shakes and synth pop overlords Gary Numan and John Foxx & The Maths.
Mixing different genres together, Bestival always has a incredible electronic music presence on site. Adding a number of fresh names, the event now boasts appearances from Shy FX, Brodinski and legendary crate-digger Gilles Peterson.
The best bit? All of the above will take place on the opening night (September 6th). Part of Back To The Phuture, organiser Mark Jones had the following to say: “It’s great to be back at Bestival for a third year with Back to the Phuture and a truly amazing line up of inspiring artists. Tomorrow is Today………Today is Tomorrow….. Bring the Noize!”
