Canadian orchestral poppers The Hidden Cameras are set to return to these shores after the release of a new single.
The Hidden Cameras are one of Canada’s most unique bands. The band’s music contains emotive choruses and swirling arrangements, bringing to mind comparisons with fellow Canadian troupe Arcade Fire.
However the band’s approach is very different. Extremely DIY, The Hidden Cameras’ early tours included abandoned churches, art galleries and even adult movie theatres.
Progressing from early albums such as ‘Ecce Homo’ the band have matured into a confident songwriting outfit. Snapped up by Rough Trade the 2006 album ‘Awoo’ saw The Hidden Cameras gain appreciation from the mainstream.
Touring widely, The Hidden Cameras returned recently with their new album ‘Origin: Orphan’. Released last year the band are set to give the title track wider exposure as part of their new single.
The double A-side release ‘Underage / Origin:Orphan’ shows both sides of the band. Moving from a synth pop romp to an elegiac lament The Hidden Cameras show with one single just how versatile they are.
Now The Hidden Cameras are set to return to the UK with another tour. Opening in Brighton on March 17th the band will travel across the country, finishing with a show in London on March 24th.
