Off-kilter Canadian indie pop group The Hidden Cameras are due to release their new single ‘In The NA’.
In the past ten years there has been an explosion of talent emerging from Canada. The under-rated North American nation has managed to produce a slew of wonderful acts from Arcade Fire to Metric, Broken Social Scene and more.
At the centre of all this creativity is the Arts & Crafts label. The imprint has released stunning albums from the likes of Stars, Broken Social Scene and more. A hub of new ideas, one of the label’s most celebrated acts is The Hidden Cameras.
Essentially led by songwriter Joel Gibb the band’s rolling line up has crafted some spectacular music. Live, The Hidden Cameras are endlessly creative frequently appearing onstage with go-go dancers in balaclavas.
However it is for their music that the band are most highly regarded. Debut album ‘Ecce Homo’ mixed luxurious indie pop with a cheeky sense of humour, and was followed by albums such as ‘Mississauga Goddam’ and ‘Awoo’.
Forthcoming album ‘Origin: Orphan’ is a stunning return from the band. The Hidden Cameras have been joined by an array of guest stars, with Joel Gibbs’ biting songwriting touch evident throughout.
The first taste fans will get of the new album is the forthcoming single ‘In The NA’. A sprightly return, the barmy but brilliant video for the track is available here – but be warned, it features strange dancing rituals and office equipment in a field.
A stream of the single is available on The Hidden Cameras’ MySpace page, with a Dolby Anol remix also available.
The Hidden Cameras are set to release their new single ‘In The NA’ on August 24th.
