Gruff Rhys has announced plans for a one off show at the Royal Festival Hall this summer.
The solo catalogue of Gruff Rhys is a dense, unforgiving place. However ‘Hotel Shampoo’ seems to stick out, building a cult following that grows on a near daily basis.
Now the Welsh songwriter has decided to underline the album’s success by performing it in full this summer. Hitting the Royal Festival Hall, the show on July 6th is part of opera singer Bryn Terfel’s BrynFest celebrations.
Performing ‘Hotel Shampoo’ in full, Gruff Rhys will then play a second set trawling through his solo catalogue. The songwriter will be joined by Cate Le Bon as well as Welsh surf rock band Y Niwl – who will also act as Rhys’ backing band for the show.
By way of a warm up, Gruff Rhys has also confirmed plans to play a one off show at Exeter Phoenix on July 5th.
Here’s ‘Shark Ridden Waters’.
