ClashMusic.com is online partner of the fantastic Green Man festival, held in the Brecon Beacons on August 21-23 and featuring the likes of Jarvis Cocker, Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver and Wilco. Stick that in your proverbial pipe, other UK festivals.
As online partner (note our logo at the bottom of the official website), we’re aboard for the festival’s Green Poll initiative: a competition which will see one band selected as opener for this year’s festival. Some 430 bands have been in contention, and there have been over 70,000 votes cast already. That: wow, and proof positive that the system works.
The search is now down to 20 bands – you can check them all out at the Green Poll page on the Green man site, just click HERE. A live play-off final will take place at the Monarch in Camden on July 23, where a panel of industry experts including Bella Union’s Simon Raymonde, the guys from acclaimed indie label Moshi Moshi, and Clash’s online ed’ Mike Diver will get their grey matter working overtime to decide upon a final winner.
Six bands will participate in this grand final, and entry to the event is free, so come down and show your support. The Monarch can be found at 40-42 Chalk Farm Road, Camden, London NW1 8BG; find its website HERE. Doors open at 8pm and there will be entertainment ’til 1am.
Hope to see you there! Find out more about Green Man, and get tickets, HERE.
