Tickets for the forthcoming Green Day musical ‘American Idiot’ have gone on sale this morning (December 9th).
A globally recognised group, Green Day decided to take the decidedly un-punk step of launching their own musical last year. ‘American Idiot’ was given its Broadway debut in 2010, winning two Tony Awards as well as the Grammy for ‘Best Musical Show’.
Now British audiences will be able to catch the show with tickets for the UK run of Green Day musical ‘American Idiot’ now on sale.
Featuring the Stateside cast, ‘American Idiot’ will receive its British première at Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre on October 9th 2012.
Heading out on tour, other venues confirmed to host ‘American Idiot’ include Edinburgh Playhouse, Glasgow’s Clyde Auditorium, Manchester’s Palace Theatre and more.
Ending with a run at the Hammersmith Apollo in London, the musical includes choreography by British Olivier Award-winner Steven Hoggett, and music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Pulitzer Prize-winner Tom Kitt.
“We’re excited to be bringing the US stage production of American Idiot to the UK and Ireland,” said Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. “We played to some of the most insane crowds when we toured the album there, and we can’t wait for our friends across the pond to see the musical.”
